Adventist Health Names New Chair and Vice-Chair to Board of Directors
In a recent board action, Ricardo Graham was appointed chairman of Adventist Health’s Board of Directors. Graham fills the role previously held by the late Jere D. Patzer, who passed away earlier this year.
Graham, who is the president of the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, previously served as vice-chairman of the health system’s board. In addition, Max Torkelsen, II, president-elect of the North Pacific Union Conference (NPUC) of Seventh-day Adventists, was appointed vice-chairman of the 13-member board.
“We are pleased that Ricardo will assume the role of chairman of the Adventist Health Board,” stated Robert G. Carmen, president and CEO of Adventist Health. “Ricardo is familiar with Adventist Health and its mission, and brings valuable insight and leadership to his new role. We also want to welcome Max to our board by virtue of his recent election as president of the NPUC.”
In addition to his previous service as vice chairman of Adventist Health’s Board of Directors, Graham also has served on the boards of Feather River Hospital in Paradise, California, St. Helena Hospital in the Napa Valley and White Memorial Medical Center in East Los Angeles.
Torkelsen has served on the board of Walla Walla General Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington for more than a decade by virtue of his current role as president of the Upper Columbia Conference (UCC) of Seventh-day Adventists. He will transition to his new role as president of the NPUC in January 2009.
