Adventist Health Hospitals Install New Technology
A new bone-density scanner recently debuted at Hanford Community Medical Center. The new scanner, a GE Lunar Prodigy Primo Densitometer, provides precise information that can help identify patients at risk for fracture. The equipment uses X-rays with very little radiation to determine bone density via a simple, quick and noninvasive procedure.
Howard Memorial Hospital has installed a new CT scanner in an effort to offer its rural community the latest in medical imaging technology. The new state-of-the-art 64-slice General Electric VCT CT scanner is five times faster than the previous scanner and provides better image quality and more detailed coverage. CT scanning has the unique ability to image a combination of soft tissue, bone and blood vessels. Among all available imaging techniques, it is one of the best tools for studying the lungs and abdomen. CT provides detailed information for nearly every part of the body, including the brain and its vessels, eyes, inner ear, chest, heart, lungs and the skeletal system.
A 16-slice Toshiba Aquilon CT Scanner was recently installed at Selma Community Hospital. The new scanner includes enhanced features for greater patient comfort and safety, faster exam times and improved image quality for speedier diagnoses.
